Becca

Beccas printed 3 new serigraph eiditions with Modern Multiples February, 2000 which mark a new evolution in her ouver. Becca's work came to prominence with her life sized cutouts of women and girls pasted on buildings and walls throughout Los Angeles urban guerilla style. Becca's "paper dolls," painted with an emotive immediacy on brown butcher's paper, allude to events having taken place before hand.

These prints, "Wild," "Beach," and "Bonnie" reference sewing catalogs illustrations used not only to portray the article that could be made, but also "sell" a sense of style, economic status, and desirability one would achieve if she made this dress or outfit - a promise never quite fulfilled. Working with Master Printer Rolo Castillo, Beccas has mastered the medium of silkscreen by capturing the character and elegance of line as well as the translucency and directness of paint. These prints secude the viewer as images while asking us to consider the ways we are subliminally and overtly manipulated by the fashion and advertising industries. Becca had a One Person show at Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles, April 22, 2000. Each print is printed on 100% archival rag paper with a cut edge. Signed, numbered, with blind embossed studio chop, each edition size is 15. Available as a suite of three list price $500.00 or individually list prince $175.00, unframed.
